RHCE

I'm all signed up for the RHCE exam in late April. Hopefully that will give me enough time to practice and study. Since Spencer won't let me install Red Hat on his machine I'll have to do most of my practice with network services on my Mac, though I have downloaded a copy of knoppix, which is a linux distrobution that runs from DVD so I could use that on his machine without actually installing anything.

Other then that we're finally moving some of our stuff into storage, so We'll actually have room in our apartment.

Such a nerd....

So I came home and started trying to practice for the RHCE exam... (hoping to take it in April)

I trashed /bin/bash, then setup an NFS mount on my Mac so I could boot in rescue mode and re-install the bash rpm...

I also setup the NFS mount in /etc/fstab.

I now have 1 mirrored pair of 200 Gig drives and 2 mirrored pairs of 300Gig drives on my mac.. (yeah I know it's 1.5 TB, to bad it's only mounted as 700GB)

I'm gonna move my 120 GB disk out of my mac and put it in my linux box so I can practice scaling filesystems across drives. But that'll have to wait till tomorrow or later.

I worked last night and then had a meeting from 10am to 11am.
I got home about 15 mnutes ago. I generally enter and exit the building on the basement level, where i have to pass by the dumpsters to enter the building.

Today as I walked by, there was a guy digging through a bag of trash. He was wearing a suit and latex gloves.... At first I just walked by him, but then my sense of right and wrong kicked in and I approched him about why he was digging through the trash. He very aggitatedly told me it was his trash and he lived in the building and if I had a problem to call the cops.

I figured that's a good idea, however I don't get any reception from the basement on my cell phone. I was waiting at the elevator when I heard a car door slam and had a suspition it was this guy getting into the car that had been parked near by. I was right, he had just started to drive away and when I went back to the door and looked out to get his tag number. He saw me and stopped the car and came in to confront me. He asked me what my problem was and I told him I was taking down his tag number. I noticed he was wearing what I assume to be a police badge, and had a side arm clipped to his belt. He told me I should Mind my own business and walked back to his car and drove off.

I don't know why but I have this indescribably mash of feelings over this. I'm pissed that the guy had this attitude, I'm scared that this guy could have done god knows what to me, I do feel a little pride that I had the nerve to confront some one who, I'm 100% sure, was doing wrong. My heart is racing and from some reason I'm crying...

I've forgotten what his tag number was, but it was a DC plate. Even if did know it, I'm kinda scared to call and report this because if he's with the police then he'de have my name etc... am I Paranoid?

on a special note, I shred ever piece of paper I throw out that has my name or address on it... :) I guess it's good that I do.

So I brought the kitties home yesterday. London seems quite curious and friendly. Paris, she's been hiding under the bed, and hasn't come out much at all. Right now they are confined to the bedroom (the book says to slowly introduce them to the rest of the house), but London is definatly ready to check out the rest of the house.

I'm in an Intro to XML class today, Pretty cool stuff. Too bad I don't have a lot of use for XML data at this point in time. I at least know how to get my iTumes Library/Play list data to format out all pretty.

break's over, le sigh...

We're going to try and adopt Paris and London.

So in other news, I got 2 packages from Amazon.com. 1 they left at my front door (some CSS books) and 1 they left in my mailbox (2 copies of Harry Potter book 6). Since I live in an apartment, our mailbox is a huge set of cubbie holes, and when the post person delivers the mail, they open they door covering all mail boxes. Well my cubbie hole/mail box was just the right width and height to recieve the package, but then they close the door. Now when I open my mailbox door, there is a lip all around, which the door sits in. Guess what, the box doesn't fit through my little door opening. GRRRRRR. So I had to rip the side of the box off, and then pull one of the books out and twist it out... I'm surprised I didn't really do any damage. Once the first book was out of the way, the second one came right out.

It was a little creepy, since it almost looked like there was a battle going on all across the land.

On a seperate note, I finished watching the Full Metal Alchemist Fan Subs.
My "I've been up for over 20 hours" RANTS!

1. Ladies, I respect you. I believe you can do just as much as men, and more. But if you want to be taken seriously as equals... learn to Drive. Those of you who actually understand the difference between the fast and slow lanes need to inform the rest of your gender that if they pass you on the right, you're in the WRONG LANE!.. those of the male persuasion need to take this to heart as well...

2. If you are going to use an Elevator, make sure it is going in the direction you are going. I hate getting on the elevator and there you are, you don't get off even though this is the bottom floor. Then we go up, stopping at the floor YOU got on, because you didn't wait. Get a clue as to how to use the freaking elevator.. it isn't hard. Either look at the arrows, do they point Up or Down? better yet, If someone is already on the Elevator, ask them if they are headed up or down.

3. If you're a man and you need to urinate in a public bathroom.. use a Urinal, or sit down. Don't piss all over the seat!!! If you feel the need for privacy and you're to manly to sit down, Lift the Fucking seat... Don't want to lift the seat with your hand? use your foot. It's not like your wife or girl friend is there to nag you for leaving the seat up.

4. Back to Driving.. what makes people feel that they are so special that they can bypass the rest of us in the sholder? It's not a lane people. The rest of us have had to wait, and it's only fair that you wait just like the rest of us. And then to get pissed of when someone actually stopes you from doing it is even more rediculous.

I'm sure I have more ANGER to vent, but I need to sleep before I blow a fuse.

Well again I've proven to myself I have a Sick Sick Sick Sense of Humor. I just finished watching a movie that had me Howling soooo hard. It's called Visitor Q.

It's listed as a Comedy/Drama/Horror, and it definatly has all 3 elements. It's from the director of Happiness of the Katikuris, which is also a Comedy/Drama/Horror, with a little musical thrown in.

Well for starters, there is a son who beats the hell out of his mom... as she yells "not the face"...

The mom discovers Lactational Water-Sports... Yes I said Lactational...

And the part that I couldn't stop laughing over... rigimortis sets in as the Dad is doing a little necrophilia..

i know it sounds sick, but it was HILLARIOUS!!!

There is still light outside and I'm here @ work. I need to stop taking all these extra hours and classes for work, they are taking away to much of my personal time as well as time I could spend with Spencer.

Once I finish up the classes and extra work, I'm gonna wait a long time before volenteering for more.

I do however think I want to persue a degree in Biology/Entomology with a minor in Art and maybe Education. I have my work cut out for me. I need to really research local school in the DC Metro Area.

In other news, yesterday Spencer and I went to Ikea. We bought so much stuff, that I ended up putting small stuff on the roof rack. Spencer had to sit behind me in the back seat, because the boxes were so big. After we got home (did 55 all the way) we unloaded the boxes and went back out to Best Buy. We were up until 2am putting a bookshelf together, we finally gave up and went to bed. We spent a good hour or more finishing this morning before I left for work.

So yesterday re-arranged the boxes in the living room. This way I could go ahead and place book shelves along the wall, and start unpacking books.

After that I went to the Post Office and discussed what course of action I could take against the New Orleans post office, because they haven't forwarded a single piece of mail since I put in a change of address online nearly 2 months ago. They gave me a customer service number to call nd report the problems.

After that it was off to Ikea for a Desk. I bought a Jerker, and all the add-ons (extra shelves, height extender, CPU holder). I also picked up another rug, some cool lights, a floor lamp, and some cabinets to use as night stands. Of course the rest of the day was spent putting this stuff together. I actually set the desktop a little to high on the Jerker, so I'll have to get Spencer to help me lower it this weekend.

Not much else is going on. I've been clening out my computer corner and straightning up. I have update my address on a bunch of accounts, and in a little while I'm gonna go looking for aquarium fish and plants.

FUN SCROTAL SCIENCE PROJECT (taken from scrotalsafetycommission.com)
On a hot day, disrobe and slip your body (groin and all) into a cold shower. Notice how your testicles tell your scrotum to contract and thus, bring them closer to the warmth of your body's bulk. Examine the prune like puckering your scrotum produces to accomplish this amazing feat of strength and engineering. Write about your experience in your journal.
I don't want to Move again...

So We still have mountains of boxes all over the apartment. I keep opening boxes, but I don't feel like I have any place to put the stuff I take out. Since Spencer was gone over the weekend, I wasn't able to discuss with him where he wanted things.

I did take the time to setup the 10 Gal. aquarium. I bought a new filter for it, and some gravel. I guess when I have a day off I'll go buy some plants and maybe some fish.

I have a ton of shirts that I'm gonna have Spencer look through and if he doesn't want them, they'll goto good will.

I still don't have a desk, that was a big fiasco the other day. My Desk was discontinued, but in Office Depot's catalog they have a 2nd generation of my desk. When I asked in-store, they told me it was discontinued. I have found it on their website however, and it's listed as in-stock. In store they have flyers for the 3rd generation of the desk which is a black glass, instead of clear. I'm wondering of I should try and order the desk off their website, or wait till they get the new ones in store.

I know it's creepy that I'm so concerned about a Desk, but my old desk was really really nice.

The rain has forsaken me.

The moment I stopped waiting, stopped expecting, stopped looking, it rained.

I was inside, and the rain was over by the time I made it back outside. All that was left for me was the wet ground and the pungent odor of rain.

On my way home I thought that maybe this cruel mistress had come back to me, but it was nothing more then a drop or 2. Enough to entice and tease, but not enough to sustain my life. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough. Not enough.

2 more hours...

Well 2 more hours and I'm gonna be unemployeed. The fun never stops. We've been watching movies here @ work. First we saw X-Men 2 (I saw it in the theatre), now we're watching Jackass the movie (which I haven't seen before).

Quite a boring way to ring in the new year. Also, I still don't know if I'm gonna get to keep the AOL account I use for work. I spoke with my manager about an hour ago and he said he's still looking into it.
